2024/6 DDR5 CAMM2 module announcement


CAMM2 (Compression Attached Memory Module 2) is the world's first new matrix memory architecture tailored for DDR5, developed by TMTC. Compared to traditional DIMM/SO-DIMM architectures, CAMM2 brings revolutionary innovations in module size, interface design, and functional performance.
CAMM2 adopts a brand-new contact-type parallel interface, which can be directly connected to the motherboard, achieving a shorter circuit distance of only 1.5 inches, reducing transmission latency and improving performance. Its module size is 60% smaller than SO-DIMM, leaving more space for the chassis. The most attractive feature is that a single CAMM2 module can support up to 128GB of memory capacity, which is 4 times that of existing SO-DIMM memory, improving memory expansion capabilities, making it an ideal choice for AI computing devices.
Here are the significant technical advantages of CAMM2:
- High Performance and Low Power Consumption:
Compared to traditional SO-DIMM designs, CAMM2 memory modules have halved the circuit distance to just 1.5 inches. This not only reduces power consumption but also increases data transfer speeds, providing powerful computing support for AI applications. - Flexible Expansion:
CAMM2 memory modules save approximately 60% of motherboard space, allowing laptops and other high-performance computing devices to accommodate more functional modules, such as additional M.2 SSD slots or more optimized cooling systems, further enhancing the performance and user experience of the devices. - High-Density Memory Support:
